Advice to Sellers
- CLEAN YOUR HOME – cleaner than it’s ever been! Change filters, dust tops of ceiling fan blades, clean out furnace closets and pantries.
- Fix anything that is broken.
- Pets can be a distraction or can discourage buyers. Do your best to conceal evidence of pets. Put their food in a container in the garage and out away food/water bowls.
- Thin out your furniture. It will make your home look bigger.
- Take down personal photos. You want your buyer to see themselves in the home. You don’t want to give the impression that their family isn’t right for the neighborhood.
- Neutral paint colors are better.
- Curb appeal matters. It’s the buyer’s first impression. Add some color (such as bright flowers) and clean up the yard!
- Do your best to keep the home show ready.
- When staging your home hide valuables and put away medications.
- Be flexible if possible. Buyers usually see 3-4 houses. They may be a few minutes early or late for their appointment time.
